01 Who we are

akita is developed and operated by Wcomm Gerenciamento de Sistemas Digitais Ltda, a company registered in Brazil. For the purposes of data protection law, Wcomm is the controller of the limited information described in this policy.

02 What stays on your device

akita is built to work locally. There is no account to create, no login, and no database of ours holding your records. Everything you enter is stored in the app's own storage area on your phone, including:

There are a few exceptions, and they are all optional. The meal diary, medication scanning, and lab report scanning each send an image or text to be read, as described in sections 05, 06 and 07. When you do not use those features, nothing in this list leaves your phone.

• the medication you selected, your dose and how often you take it
• the doses you logged, with dates, times and application sites
• symptoms, intensity, mood and the notes you write
• weight, height, waist measurements, blood pressure and resting heart rate
• progress photos
• your reminder settings and language preference

We cannot see any of this. It is not transmitted to us and it is not backed up to a server of ours.

03 Progress photos

Photos you add are stored in the app's private storage area on your device. They are not saved to your camera roll, they are never uploaded, and they are not included in the PDF report. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

04 The PDF report

The report is generated on your device from the records already stored there. It is not sent to us and it is not stored anywhere online. Once it is created, you decide what to do with it using your phone's own sharing options. From that point on, whatever service you choose to share it through applies its own privacy terms.

05 The meal diary

The meal diary is optional. If you never open it, nothing described in this section happens.

When you log a meal with a photo or a written description and ask for an estimate, that photo or text is sent over an encrypted connection to a service we operate, which passes it to OpenRouter, an artificial intelligence provider. The estimate comes back and is stored on your device with the rest of your records.

What is sent

• the photo of the meal, resized, or the description you typed
• your language, so the answer comes back in it
• the anonymous identifier that tells our service your subscription is active

What is not sent

• your name, email or any way to identify you
• your medication, doses, symptoms, weight, measurements or notes
• your progress photos
• anything else stored in the app

What happens to it

Neither we nor OpenRouter store the photo or the description. The request is processed and discarded. We keep no copy and we build no history of what you eat. We have configured OpenRouter so that what you send is not used to train models and providers are selected for zero retention.

Processing takes place on servers in the United States. OpenRouter's own privacy information is at openrouter.ai/privacy.

The estimate is an approximation produced by software from an image or a sentence. It can be wrong, and every value is editable before you save it. It is not a nutritional analysis, not a measurement, and not advice about what to eat.

The meal photo is the record here, so it is kept on your device for 90 days and then deleted automatically. The written record of the meal stays.

Before you use this feature for the first time, the app explains this and asks you to agree. Declining leaves the rest of akita fully usable.

06 Medication scanning

When you add a medication, you can photograph its box or send a photo or PDF of a prescription instead of typing. This is optional. Typing the name yourself does everything this feature does, without sending anything.

If you use it, the image or PDF is sent over an encrypted connection to a service we operate, which passes it to OpenRouter to read the medication details. What it reads comes back so you can review and confirm it before anything is saved.

What is sent

• the photo of the box, or the photo or PDF of the prescription
• your language, so the answer comes back in it
• the anonymous identifier that tells our service your subscription is active

What happens to it

Neither we nor OpenRouter store the image or the PDF. The request is processed and discarded, with the same zero retention and no training configuration described for the meal diary, and processing takes place on servers in the United States.

On your device, the working file is deleted as soon as the reading is done. It is not kept. There is one exception you control: if you scan a box and choose to use that photo as the icon for the medication, that single image is kept on your device as the icon and stays until you remove it or delete the medication. Nothing you already had in your Files or Camera Roll is ever changed.

What the software reads is only to help you fill in the medication. You review and edit it before saving, and it is not medical advice.

07 Lab report scanning

In the metabolic panel you can send a PDF of a lab report so the values it prints can fill the fields you already track, instead of typing each one. This is optional. You can always fill the panel in by hand.

If you use it, the PDF is sent over an encrypted connection to a service we operate, which passes it to OpenRouter to read the values. They come back as a draft so you can check and confirm each one before anything is saved.

What is sent

• the PDF of the lab report
• your language, so the answer comes back in it
• the anonymous identifier that tells our service your subscription is active

What is read, and what is not

Only the printed values of the tests akita tracks are read. The app does not read or store the header of the report, such as your name, your document number or your doctor. It does not import reference ranges, high or low flags, or anything the report says beyond the values themselves, and it does not compare your results against any range.

What happens to it

Neither we nor OpenRouter store the PDF. The request is processed and discarded, with the same zero retention and no training configuration described for the meal diary, and processing takes place on servers in the United States. On your device, the working copy of the PDF is deleted as soon as the reading is done. Only the values you confirm are saved, as numbers in the panel. The original PDF in your Files is never changed.

08 Analytics

To understand how the app is used and where people run into trouble, we use PostHog, a product analytics service. Data is processed on PostHog's servers in the United States.

What PostHog receives from akita is limited to how the app is used, for example which screens are opened, whether a feature was used, and counts of actions. In its standard configuration it also collects technical information such as your IP address, device model, operating system version and app version.

No health information is ever sent to analytics. Medication names, doses, symptoms, notes, measurements, blood pressure, heart rate, weight and photos are excluded by design. Analytics events carry only anonymous identifiers, simple true or false values and counts.

09 Subscriptions and payment

Subscriptions are sold through Apple and managed with RevenueCat, a subscription management service.

All payment is handled by Apple. We never receive or store your card number, billing address or Apple ID. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier generated by the app and the status of your subscription, so that the app knows whether your access is active. It does not receive your name, your email or any health information.

When you use the meal diary, medication scanning or lab report scanning, that same anonymous identifier is sent to our service so it can confirm with RevenueCat that your subscription is active. It carries no health information and no way to identify you.

Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's own privacy policy. RevenueCat's is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

10 Notifications

Dose reminders and the reminder before a free trial ends are scheduled locally by your phone. We do not operate a push notification server and we cannot send you messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and the app will keep working without them.

11 What we never do

• We do not sell or rent your information.
• We do not show advertising and we do not share data with advertising networks.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not build a health profile about you.
• We do not share your information with employers, insurers or health plans.

12 Age

akita is intended for people aged 16 or older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you would like to discuss it, please write to us.

13 Deleting your data

To delete everything the app stores about your treatment, uninstall akita from your device. This is immediate and permanent, and there is no copy of it anywhere else. Because of that, we cannot restore it for you.

To request deletion of the analytics events associated with your app installation, write to support@akita-app.com. Tell us as much as you can about when and where you used the app, since analytics data is not linked to your identity and we may not be able to locate it otherwise.

Cancelling a subscription is done through your Apple account, in the subscriptions section of your device settings.

14 Your rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you the right to ask what information we hold, to request a copy, to ask for correction or deletion, and to object to certain processing. This includes the Brazilian General Data Protection Law and, for people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation.

Because akita keeps your treatment records only on your device, most of these rights are exercised directly by you, inside the app. For anything else, write to us and we will respond.

15 International transfer

Some of the services we use process data in the United States: the analytics service described in section 08, and the meal, medication and lab reading described in sections 05, 06 and 07. If you are outside the United States, the limited information covered by those sections is transferred there. We rely on the service providers' standard contractual safeguards for these transfers.

16 Changes to this policy

If we change how akita handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. When a change is significant, we will also make it visible inside the app.
